The drive to Monemvasia lasts approximately four hours to southern Greece along beautiful natural scenery of both mountains and sea. The destination is worth waiting as the small island is an impressive welcome. The fortitude town was established at the 6th century AD. In its narrow streets you will see the remains of the fort, old cannons and byzantine churches, all very well preserved and of extreme beauty. The castle was used during the Greek Revolution of 1821 against the Ottomans. Monemvasia will impress you with the simplicity of its beauty and with its rich history and the immense view of the open sea. Then we will head back to Athens.
Please note that this tour can be regarded as a two-day tour and spend the night in the castle, or it can be a stop as part of multiday tour that includes Sparta Olympia or Nafplion.
